Origin Story

In 2008, Nick and I crossed paths at a .NET User Group in Naples, Florida. That encounter wasn't just about two developers meeting; it was a testament to our shared passion for learning. We believed that growth comes from collaboration, and interacting with other developers was our way of forging ahead.
A unique twist of fate brought us even closer. As Nick was leaving the hospital with his newborn, I was entering the hospital as I was preparing to welcome my own child in the same place just two weeks later. Our paths intertwined again when we both set our sights on the same job opportunity in 2009. Recognizing Nick's exceptional skills, I suggested the company hire him over me. But life had another plan; they hired us both.
As the years rolled by, our professional bond only strengthened. We consistently surpassed expectations, proving our mettle time after time. While we often contemplated starting our own company, the right moment seemed elusive. However, when Nick relocated to Chicago to be closer to his family and I moved to Michigan due to my wife's career opportunity, the stars finally aligned. We realized our mutual passion: nurturing a robust community of developers. In 2019, with the backdrop of an aviation software contract, MadeLabs was born.
Growth Over the Years:
MadeLabs has been fortunate in our growth as we have gone from two originating founders to a peak of just under 40 engineers and today stabilizing at 30.
- 2019: The core team of 5
- 2020: Welcomed 7 more talents
- 2021: Expanded by another 7
- 2022: A significant leap with 18 new additions
- 2023: Strengthened by 4 more
The Covid-19 pandemic was a formidable challenge for all, but it also opened a window of opportunity. It allowed us to cultivate a proficient remote team, breaking geographical boundaries. As more companies became comfortable with remote consulting, MadeLabs continued our run of successful application modernization projects in various industries, expanding from aviation to supply chain, financial services, and agriculture.
Our goal at MadeLabs is more than just offering services; it's about forming lasting partnerships. We're here to help businesses transition smoothly into the modern tech era. Whether it's refining existing systems, enhancing application architectures, migrating to the cloud, or optimizing the business value of applications, we have the expertise. We're also at the forefront of infrastructure advancements, championing practices like infrastructure as code and building "cloud native". We invite you to collaborate with us and experience our commitment to excellence. At MadeLabs, we succeed when you succeed.
